Ron Snell's writing holds your attention and will make you laugh out loud more than once! My kids have wonderful memories of reading these books together as a family, and I've ordered them each a copy to pass on to the next generation! This is a fun story to share with our 10 yo girls. The adventures are amazing and sometimes quite humorous. It's a good glimpse into missionary life and missionary kids. There's quite a bit of sarcasm as well But some of that was difficult to frame for our kids.

It's exotic, it's funny,and the pictures help you imagine almost exactly what it was like then. The book virtually explains what it's like to be a kid with missionary parents growing up in the jungles of Peru. You also learn about South American tribes such as the Michiguengas. All written with a sense of humor. One of my favorite parts was,when he observed that "When they are laughing you know you're in trouble. This has been one of my favorite books since I was introduced to it in Middle School. Ron Snell writes in such a way as to immerse you in the story.

You'll laugh with him and his siblings most of the time, but there are spots where you'll cry. This series was first given to us by my mother and we greatly enjoyed reading the stories.
